Le Hair Spa Singapore Hair Salon Review

So... It's been pretty long since I've last updated my blog. I have a very bad habit of going MIA after updating once in ages, and the cycle repeats sigh. So much for promising to be back with more frequent updates!!!!

Well, I HAVE BEEN wanting to blog nowadays, but I'm just too busy because of my part-time job and YouTube stuff. Not to forget, my craft orders!

What made me force out some time to update this space of mine once again was because of a newly opened hair salon at Bukit Timah Road near Little India Station. It was such a lovely place with a pleasant experience that I just had to share it here! (& I really. Can't. Wait. To. Finish. &. Post. This. Up. Oh gosh.)

Hehe, I'm truly excited... So let me begin!

(Please note that whatever information I've stated here may not be accurate as I am only sharing what I've personally experienced or seen at the hair salon)

I was actually invited to attend Le Hair Spa's opening on 20th August, and I have to say that I had such a great time there! Since I was allowed to invite a friend for better company, I decided to bring Cai Feng along with me. (You can find her on instagram by her username, @foxedrose)

Being it our first time at Bukit Timah Road, we were worried we'd lose our way. However, it's actually pretty easy getting there.. I guess a whole bunch of flower stands helped us to more conveniently spot the salon on that day haha!

And I mean... A LOT of flower stands were laid out outside the salon (wow!) Oh and by the way... Those shown in the picture above aren't even half of the number of flower stands that were present.

A long table with buffet catering was set-up along the empty space next to the salon, which was prepared to cater for guests like us and the rest of the people attending their opening. We thought we were late... But turns out we were rather early so we were told to have our lunch first anyway!

After eating and chilling for about an hour... FINALLY... WE GOT TO LOOK AROUND THE HAIR SALON!

Le Hair Spa Interior

Upon entering Le Hair Spa's entrance is their reception desk, with a little cozy seating corner by the glass windows. I love how they used Victorian furniture, which gives the salon a very classy and royal look. To fill up the walls, there were also photos framed up around the seating area and next to the reception. There was also a chandelier attached to the ceiling which sadly, I didn't manage to take a photo of.

As you walk further in, it's an area that is slightly dimly lit compared to the reception area. Here, there are several hair salon chairs and mirrors, which is more or less the typical kind of setting you may see in most salons.

Up to this point, I wasn't expecting much of the salon, not to mention the size of it... Trust me, you WILL be surprised and be in awe.

As you can see from the picture, there is another dimly lit hallway/corridor leading to another part of the salon. During my second visit, I found out that there are actually sliding doors along this corridor which leads you to a room where the hair wash basins and beds are. (The doors were camouflaged so I did not realise it.. Heh.)

So.. You must be wondering, where does this corridor lead to?

Well...

The main thing that caught everyone's attention - the beautiful, instagram-worthy stairway and sparkling chandelier! The stairway had a really fancy railing for support in my opinion, which was to my liking.

By the left side of the bottom of the stairway was a huge curtain draped down from the ceiling, giving some contrast of medium used to create this wonderful-looking space. All these definitely add some class to the already classy interior of the salon, and makes it look even more grand. Because of that, I honestly (or many of us) felt that the salon looked much more like a mansion than a hair salon! (So gorgeous!!!!)

Next to the stairway on the right was actually some shelving where the salon stores their tea & coffee, which are served to customers during their time at the salon. (Pardon me for missing photos since I was also doing video recording at the same time and missed out some photo snapping)

The area here is frankly quite cozy with the dim lights and clean environment accompanying it. It also seemed rather spacious on the opening day, but when I went back to Le Hair Spa the second time there were more Victorian furniture set up here. I didn't take a photo of them because the usual unobservant-to-surroundings me, did not realise that they added new furniture.. (Only now while I'm recalling my time back at the salon that I figured it out)

There's also a room with more hair salon chairs and mirrors, which you will see if you turn to your right after coming through the corridor.

Going up the stairway will lead you to the second level of the hair salon. There's another room with hair wash basins and beds on this level, and at the corner there's also a small couch seating area for you to chill at as well.

Standing at the couch area, I took another photo which shows the chandelier above the stairway because it's too pretty to miss.

The hairwash room is on the right side (as though there are secret doors.. I didn't realise at first that those were rooms as well since the doors too like before, were camouflaged haha!) However, I'm not too sure what that room you see in the photo was. I'll probably check it out again the next time I drop by the salon!

Next to the couch area comes another corridor, which leads to their private rooms. I did not manage to take a photo of their private rooms since I was mainly doing video recordings here. I like how the salon has private rooms, because that makes your experience here even more comfortable and cozy! It feels much high class with private rooms since you will be receiving the hair services with no one else around, just you and the staff assisting you.

Le Hair Spa has 8 private rooms (if I am not wrong.. Well I may be wrong LOL), whereby a few are individual private rooms. There are also private rooms for two pax. (Read more below later on)

The lighting along the corridor was pretty cool, because the shadows cast on the wall and floor created some depth. Pretty instagram worthy.. Don't photographers love such depth-looking places?

That was about all touring around the salon. Cai Feng and I definitely had fun looking around and took quite a number of photos while we were at it.

The hair salon was fully occupied when we were done looking around, because we forgot to make our appointment upon reaching in the morning. So we had to make another trip down one week later.

This is how the hair salon actually looks from the outside, without the flower stands. (& a couple more photos since I love sharing photos on my blog hehe)

Le Hair Spa, Hair Spa Experience

I arrived at the salon 5 minutes early on the day of our appointment and waited for Cai Feng since she was slightly late. Despite telling the staff at the reception desk that she might be rather late, she said that it was okay and invited me to sit down on the couch while waiting. She later on then served me a glass of water so that I could quench my thirst while waiting.

Right after Cai Feng arrived, the staff directed us to two ladies who brought us up to where we'll be having our hair spa session. As we arrived at the stairway, one of the ladies asked if we'd prefer tea or coffee. The other lady then brought us up while she prepared the beverages.

I wasn't expecting that we'd be given a private room, so it was a rather pleasant surprise!

The room was rather big for a 2-pax private room, and uniquely furnished with "cushion-like" walls at the back (not too sure what they're called)

Roller stools can be found in the room, and since there wasn't any other area for us to put our belongings, we left them on a couple of the stools.

Facing the front was a large mirror a small distance away from the seats, which reflects almost the whole room. That way, you can clearly see your friend who will be sitting next to you.

Moving on to the hair spa treatment experience itself, I'll say that the service was awesome!

To start it off, the lovely girls started massaging our neck and shoulders. It lasted for a few minutes before they moved on to our arms and hands. By doing so, they lowered our seat so that we'd be lying down comfortably. At this stage, they applied some sort of moisturizer or massage cream. Throughout the massage session, the girls would constantly ask us if the strength they used were bearable for us, and made sure that they weren't hurting us at all times. You could also request for them to exert more strength if you prefer stronger massage. Anyway, I thought that it's a very sweet gesture to keep check on their customers' comfort.

The girl who assisted me had a very cute & simple chinese name, KeKe (first sound for the chinese han yu pin yin pronunciation). Not to forget that she looks super adorable and doll-like!!! With her large puppy-looking eyes, I thought that she looked like Vicky Zhao (Zhao Wei), who's famously known as Xiao Yan Zi in Huan Zhu Ge Ge. Even KeKe's smile looked so much like her oh my goddddddd. I couldn't stop staring, haha!

The lady who assisted Cai Feng was known as Ella (?). We still can't figure out the spelling because there were some miscommunications.. Hehe..

Both Ella and KeKe were really friendly and accommodating. But because they were both from China, there were times where all of us could understand neither, since the chinese we speak in Singapore may differ slightly at times. And.... Both Cai Feng's and my chinese aren't that wonderful to begin with.

Nevertheless, it was still fun talking to them!

The massage session lasted for at least 15 to 20 minutes, as far as I can remember. We found out from KeKe and Ella that the Hair Spa service comes along with massage. According to them, the purpose of beginning the treatments with a mini massage session is to let their customers feel relaxed before starting the hair treatments.

In between the massage and before they started on the scalp treatment, they also asked us if we were thirsty and whether we would like to take a sip from our tea or coffee before carrying on. I really like how they put in a lot of thought for their customers!

And so finally, the scalp treatment began!

I had to do them justice by covering their faces since they did not turn out that glam in the photo.

The scalp treatment felt very refreshing and it provided a minty and cooling sensation to my scalp. KeKe and Ella began hair scrubbing for a few minutes, creating thick foam before we moved on to wash them off.

Since my hair is really thick and long, it took KeKe some time to finish her task. I believe that it must have been really tiring for her, and I appreciate that she was really kind and patient towards me.

On our way to the hair wash rooms, I could feel that my hair was falling off because of the length and weight. To prevent that from actually happening, KeKe was nice enough to hold onto my hair while we walked down the stairs and to the hair wash room at level one, as the one on level two was fully occupied.

The hair wash room itself felt comfortable and strongly air-conditioned. Since the air-condition blows directly at you, it can be pretty cold. KeKe did ask if I felt cold and if I wanted a towel for a blanket, but I didn't really wish to trouble her so I said that it was fine. She was really gentle and patient with my long, & tangled hair... Aww.

After washing off, we went back upstairs to our room and she began to comb through my hair so that every strand will be untangled. Despite it being a tough job since my hair gets tangled easily due to bad condition, she took a lot of care and effort to ensure that she didn't hurt me.

It honestly took her quite a while before she could move on to blow drying my hair. KeKe also applied some sort of hair moisturiser (if i am not wrong), which she says helps to keep the hair smooth and that it does not cause your hair to feel or become oily like most products. I am really amazed at how detailed and patient she was, and I truly appreciated it! Her being extremely kind made my experience a massive pleasant one.

KeKe even tried to curl my bangs since I don't have any partings and because my bangs touches my eyes if it was left straight. However, the curl didn't really work out, so she intended to get her colleague to do it for me. KeKe also noticed that my bangs had some split parting due to it being dried in that position, so she brought me downstairs. She then seeked help from her fellow colleague, a hair stylist who later attended to me and used a hair straightener to curl the ends of my bangs.

Finally, I was done!

I went back to the seating area at the stairway where Cai Feng was waiting, finished my cup of tea and then took a couple of photos with KeKe and Cai Feng!

As you can see... My hair parting still didn't go away anyway haha.

On our way out I snapped a few more photos of the products and hair services price menu placed on the ledges of the mirrors.

As you can see, it's pretty obvious that the salon uses L'Oreal products!

We left after that since both Cai Feng and I each had our own plans, and I honestly felt a little sad leaving because everyone's just so friendly and accommodating that it feels as though you've made new friends there! I can't wait to go back again, hehe.

Post Hair Spa Treatment

Right after the treatment, my hair felt softer and smoother. It has been a very long time since I could easily comb through my hair using my fingers, and my hair was completely tangle-free! The treatment also left my hair a very fragrant smell, which Cai Feng and I really took a liking to. Cai Feng felt so satisfied that she told me the next day she'd want to go back again for the treatment, perhaps once every 2 months... And I'm totally on the same page.

It's been 4 to 5 days since the treatment now, and my hair still feels soft and smooth. I haven't been applying my argan oil ever since, and there is still a huge difference compared to my hair before the treatment. Even without the argan oil, my hair is still relatively smooth and soft, and easy to comb through. Not to forget, as my hair is really dry and in a bad condition, I have difficulties shampooing my hair and getting them foamed up properly for a good wash. However, after the treatment, I could easily foam and shampoo my hair ever since.. I'm so in love :'-)

It was definitely worth the time and experience!

Price Review

The Hair Spa consists of a mini massage session, hair wash and scalp treatment. This service takes up about an hour to 1.5hrs of your time for $50. Based on my experience, I will say that it's value for money. Where else can you find a place that gives you a good and proper massage before starting on your hair treatments?! The hospitality and ambiance definitely makes up for the cost too!

In my honest opinion, generally comparing the Hair Spa cost to the Luxury Hair Spa's, I'd say that the pricing don't differ that much. I felt that the packages there seemed interesting to try out too!

Overall, the pricing of the different hair services at Le Hair Spa are relatively affordable. Definitely a good place to pamper yourself with your girlfriends, sisters or moms! Of course, guys are welcomed too.

Possible for Room for Improvement/
More honest & personal feedback

I wouldn't want you guys to think that I'm exaggerating the experience at this hair salon just because I was invited, so here's some additional feedback for you guys to read. I only enjoy giving honest review and feedback, so don't worry! :-)

(Actually I am not required to post up this blog post but I really wanted to share my experience)

1) What I didn't particularly liked and felt that there could be improvements was the private room we were in. Although the mirror was big and having privacy gave the experience bonus points, I felt that it would have been better if there were ledges nearby us or that the chairs weren't too far away from the mirror.

Ledges meaning, like the ones near the reception area or basically, the typical dressing "tables" you see in hair salons. As someone who likes to put on earrings, I had troubles keeping my earrings since there weren't any place for me to leave them. I had to dump them into my camera bag to keep them safe, haha! Well, seeing that it would be impossible for them to add in any ledges or tables due to space constraint, perhaps it would be nice and great if the salon prepares a few trinket trays where customers can leave their jewelleries and accessories in. I'm not too sure if they are already doing that, but based on my experience that's what I would suggest :-)

2) Our tea and coffee didn't really have any place where we can leave them nearby to our reach, and it was pretty inconvenient for us. I'm not too sure if Ella placed Cai Feng's coffee on the roller trolley as well like KeKe did for mine. All I remember is that mine was placed next to a few bottles of hair products & chemicals. I did not really bother much since I wasn't intending to drink my tea during the session as I hate to move around during a hair treatment. However, for hygiene concerns I did not really find it a good idea since there's a possibility of my tea getting contaminated by the hair products. In addition, the roller tray wasn't near us so we weren't able to easily reach out to our cups even if we wanted to, haha!

Therefore I really think it would be nicer and better if they have a separate roller trolley just for the beverages, and perhaps this is where they can put the trinket trays as well.

3) Because there weren't tables or ledges, there wasn't any place I could have easily put down my phone or camera like I usually do at other hair salons. This isn't really that big of a deal though!

4) According to KeKe and Ella, the staff there are mainly from China, Korea and Vietnam. Not sure how "mainly" would that be, but for Cai Feng and I we had abit of difficulties communicating due to our poor chinese (LOL) Though, it was really fun. I'm more concerned if a customer was a non-chinese, but I believe the salon has their ways of settling such problems. So... not an issue. What matters most is still the quality of customer service given and the kindness & sincerity from the staff regardless of nationality, right? :-)

5) Music was playing in the background in the salon, but I can't remember if it's because it was too soft or I wasn't paying attention to it. I don't have much memories of hearing the music often, just once in a while. In the private room, sometimes the music aren't as audible, so it would have been better if the volume was slightly louder & clearer for customers to listen and enjoy during their treatments/hair services. Mainly chinese songs were played, which I didn't have much of a concern with. But honestly I think the ambiance would have been better with other genre of songs & english songs, or a mixture of classicals.

6) The salon lacked sufficient hairwash basins and beds, which I thought could be a hassle if the salon is crowded or fully occupied. According to what I saw on the day of the treatment, I am assuming that there are only 5 or so. 2 on the second level, and about 3 at level one. Not too sure if there are actually more hidden somewhere, but I may be wrong :-) Well, such things won't cause a big problem since most of the times, customers are patient and are able to wait.

Therefore more or less, the main point was just the lack of ledges/tables for us to put our stuff.

Overall, the experience was still great!

Overall Rating

Interior: 9.5/10
Ambiance: 9/10
Service: 8.5/10
Value for money: 8.5/10

I'd really love to give 10/10 for service, but there's always room for improvement and I am sure that they are still learning as well. Therefore, i'm leaving a 1.5 out for their possible improvements. :-)

On the whole, Le Hair Spa felt like a dreamy mansion.. The interior itself made me feel like a princess! Will definitely go back again for sure.

I highly recommend this salon to girls who like pretty places, dont forget to give Le Hair Spa a try!

Art Noise Singapore Review: Singapore Japanese Hair Salon

Hello everyone! Haven't been able to update for some time since my schedule was extremely tight.
But today, I am here to share with you guys on my experience during my first-ever visit to a Japanese Hair Salon!

I was really lucky to have been chosen as a hair model for Art Noise Singapore, after taking part in their model search on instagram. It was rather unexpected for me, but I'd say it was a very interesting experience!

You must be worried that I'd be putting in good words just because of that.
But no, I am someone who is very honest especially when it comes to reviews.

On the day of my appointment, I was warmly greeted by Zynn, the staff who liaised with me for my appointment making and etc. So I met her at Breko Cafe before heading up to the hair salon together. (P.S. She's so cute & friendly, and fluent in Japanese... Wow!)

Interior

So Zynn brought me up to the salon, which had a really neat, simple yet attractive interior. It felt so homey & cozy! The interior was mainly made up of a white and wooden-brown colour scheme. Because the windows are extremely big, the salon was brightly lit by the natural sunlight shining through during the day.

Better still, being seated near the windows give you a nice view of the peaceful streets in Holland Village!

I did not manage to take photos of the other parts of the salon. However, it actually also has a couch placed in front of their products shelf which allows customers to sit while waiting for their turn, should the salon be fully occupied. How thoughtful!

Service

I was greeted by my stylist, Shuji-san, shortly after entering the salon. I was initially supposed to do a hair perm during this visit, however Shuji said that my hair wasn't in a good condition for hair perm. Therefore he suggested to dye my hair.... & BLEACH.

BLEACH???!!!

I'VE NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE AND NEVER WANTED.

That's because i'm extremely afraid of damaging my hair.. Well.. Though I've already dyed my hair twice.  Actually, it took me really long before deciding to finally dye my hair last year, to be honest ㅠㅠ

Byebye, virgin hair

But anyway, Shuji assured me that he will only be doing mild bleaching on my hair ends, about 1 - 2 inches. Can't remember that well. But he said it was to remove the reddish-brown colour on my hair ends from my previous dye.

He also suggested to dye my hair Dark Blueish Grey, somewhat similar to ash grey. It's a style where the colour on the bottom hair ends will be brighter. I was willing to give it a try & so I decided to give him the trust he deserve.

Therefore, Shuji decided to go ahead with hair colouring, mild bleaching and hair treatment for me!
(Oh, and a 2cm trim off my hair hehe)

But hey...

I have to say that my stylist was very, very thoughtful & considerate!
The hospitality he had provided felt so warm & "classy"!

When I was taking off my earrings, Shuji went off somewhere, which I thought

"Oh, he's probably getting some stuff for my hair..."

However, to my surprise, he came back with a small little "dish" & told me to put my earrings in it. Not only that, he also pulled out a box placed next to the dressing table on the floor & offered me to place my bag in it when he noticed me placing it on the dressing table.

Of course, his warmth & kindness did not stop there...

As I was still rather sick on the day of my appointment since I've just recovered from a cold, I ended up coughing rather badly before the start of the hair service session. Without hesitation, Shuji rushed to grab a glass of water & mentos mint for me to sooth my throat.

(He kept asking me whether I'm okay & if it was too cold for me as well.. How sweet of him!!)

Never have I ever felt so pampered at a hair salon before!

I would say that the service provided was rather unique & unusual to me.
Usually, I'll simply place my bag & earrings on the dressing table in hair salons...

Nevertheless, let's move on!

Now, it officially starts!

Shuji first started off with mild bleaching at the ends of my hair and then washed it off.
(Didn't manage to take a photo of this stage)

Next, I wasn't very sure of what he was doing for the next 3 stages... But I did know that the last was a colouring process though! (I probably forgotten to ask him, & didn't want to bother him too much either, oopsie)

Oh, I like how they provide ear protectors to prevent your ears from getting stained from the subtances! (Not all salons do this)

Throughout the whole session Shuji always checked back on me to ensure that I was okay. (Aww, so caring! Right?)

Well anyway, I had my hair washed about 4 times that day... Shuji seemed to be worried about the long duration for me & the number of times I had to walk back & forth for the hair wash (hahaha!)

However, it was undeniable that the hair washing process felt so comfortable!
Sinking into the chair made me want to fall asleep into dreamland rather than going back to my seat...

It felt really different from usual salons because instead of providing thin & short towels (or none at all at times), there is always a warm & thick blanket covered over you during the hair wash. On top of that, Shuji also covered my eyes with a thin cloth (or whatever it is which felt cotton-like) to protect my eyes. Also, during the 2nd hair wash if I remembered it correctly, at the end of the hair wash Shuji used something which produced steam or something similar (might be for the hair treatment). Before doing so, he actually placed a warm towel over the thin cotton-like cloth on my eyes for further protection.

Art Noise's consideration for their customers' welfare is just wow! So much attention to detail.
I wouldn't mind walking back & forth a 1000 times for the hair wash!

After the last hair wash, the salon was left with only Shuji & I. While he was blowing dry my hair, the music that was playing in the background stopped.
After what felt like 3 minutes, it seemed that he was worried about any awkwardness I may have felt from the silence...

Therefore...

"Hahahaha, so.. Suddenly so quiet!" said Shuji.

And he immediately went to switch on the playlist again... ㅋㅋㅋ

That really cracked me up!

Finally, he trimmed about 1 - 2 cm of my hair, fixed up my bangs & curled my hair using a curler.
It was my first time having a japanese-style curl instead of the usual korean-style... And I truly felt like a Japanese after looking at the end result!

The colour of my hair was really pretty too!

And that's the end of my hair session. It was really fun having my photos taken. Thank you Zynn & Shuji, it was a wonderful experience for me ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

Before leaving, I was given 2 products to try out. The SHA Shampoo & Treatment. They are original products from Art Noise, which I will do a review on soon!

My thoughts on Art Noise Singapore:

I definitely feel that the services they've provided are top-notch, and the quality of the hair services are extremely great!

I really love how the hair treatment left my hair so smooth & soft (even after a week).
Usually, my hair gets really dry in air-conditional rooms. Now, I hardly face such a situation.
Other hair treatments I've gotten at other salons did not give me such results, to be honest.
Furthermore, I see some of my hair shine coming back.
I lost it ever since I first dyed my hair last year :-(

Not to forget that my hair ends still feel just as good even though they were bleached a little.
They don't feel dry at all!

Anyway, the above results may also be due to the help of the products given to me by Art Noise too! (Stay tuned for the review!)

In my opinion, my new hair colour also turned out really great & it felt really new for me. I feel that my hair seem a lot healthier now as well. It's a pity that the photos do not show much of the colours obviously, but I swear that it looks so pretty in real life. I love it soooooo much!

A special note about my stylist Shuji-san

What I really love about my stylist was that he's such a considerate gentleman, and very well-mannered too. Every single time when he put on or take off the hairdressing capes & blankets over me, he would say "excuse me", without fail. He is really, very polite and patient. And very sweet too!
He was the first stylist I've ever encountered in a salon with such good manners!

100000000000000000 stars for him ㅋㅋㅋ

I really can't wait for my next visit to the hair salon again!

Thank you so much to Art Noise for having me, & special thanks to Zynn as well as my stylist Shuji-san!
